May 12, 2007 Young Eagles Rally - Twin County Young Eagles

Once again, EAA Chapter 1426 made history at Twin County Airport. This very successful rally was coordinated by Janet Tate. Six generous pilots provided over 110 free flights for children. Those pilots were Bill Bryant of Woodlawn, Jody Early of Hillsville, Scott Pardue from Mt. Empire Airport, Scott Thomas of Woodlawn, Bob Steele of Woodlawn,and Jon Wyatt from Blacksburg. Gracious thanks go to Janet, the pilots, and all the ground crew for all the hard work they did to promote aviation to kids. Chapter 1426 extends unlimited thanks to the owners of Twin County Aviation for the use of their hangar for this event. Thanks to the Woodlawn Ruritan Club for providing the food concession. Thanks to Ron Cochran for providing the t-shirt concession.

The hard-working ground crew consisted of Judy Smith and Shirley Steele at registeration; Sharyl Walker and Marcus Ogle at ground school; Dr. Brad Nester and son Landon at membership; Nancy Beasley, Sarah Pardue, Terri Johnson-Gregory, Ina Jacobs, Emily Gile at certification; Susan Early, Charlotte Early, selling pedal plane raffle tickets; Craig and Indy Teller and Ron Hall at dispatching; flight line, Milton Smith and Dennis King; Brian Thomas, Robert Haskins and Sam Ayers at the simulation; Janet Tate for doing everything!

Aviation Scholarship Winners Announced at Rally

Nick Johnson and Amy Alderman, Aviation Space Camp Scholarship winners are pictured here with Bob Steele, EAA Chapter 1426 President and Dr. Brad Nester, Chairman of the Chapter Scholarship Committee. Nick and Amy will be attending the Aviation Challenge at Huntsville, Ala in June.
